Is Peer-to-Peer Renting Safe?

“Yes!”, p2p rentals are very safe and conducted worldwide everyday. The initial idea of lending out your stuff sounds intimidating. There are the thoughts of, “they will break it”, “they will steal it”, “I won’t have it when I need it”, and “I don’t want strangers coming to my house”. These are all great critical thoughts which I had too, but now after research and first-hand experience I no longer have these thoughts.

People seem to take care of items as if they are their own and if not better when doing short term rentals. From my personal experience, when I rent something, I am actively wanting it and using it, therefore it is in the forefront of my mind and I pay more attention to it and am reminded subtly that it needs to remain in good condition.

Don’t like blindly trusting people?!? Ha, nor do we. This is why we do initial identity verification checks and screening to ensure everyone is who they say they are. Identity verification helps to ensure that Zental Rental has the correct person’s data, just in case an item is stolen. But don’t worry, Zental Rental’s team will handle this end of it and more.

What do you mean, “and more?”? Well, Zental Rental offers Lender Assurance. Zental Rental assures that items will always be delivered back to you in working condition with normal wear and tear; of course. Zental Rental will cover up to $1,000 for any item lost, stolen, or damaged beyond working condition by the renter.

An important thought to tackle is, “it won’t be there when I need it”. Now this is not true. Do you unexpectedly need your wheelbarrow? Do you unexpectedly need your DSLR? Do you unexpectedly need your drone? I think your picking up what I’m throwing down. Just in case you’re not picking it up, I’m saying you plan to use most items we own if they are already not in our daily routines. Most items just get buried or pushed to the back walls of the garage, basement, or attic until its time to use it. If you want to use your item then deny the rental request. Simple, and there are no hard feelings :D

Lastly, we understand the fear or anxiety a person can get when having strangers meet them at their house. Lets start my remembering that there are initial screenings ran on Renters and Lenders. The person showing up at your house has already been verified and their identity is on file. This is the same security offered by the likes of Uber and AirBnB. If you prefer, you can arrange to meet the renter at a public location other than your home, just organize a pick-up and drop-off time through the internal message system.

Start putting your items to use so they can earn you some extra money today. The right items and some word of mouth could have you paying your monthly car bill. Reach out to us so we can answer your questions and get you lending.
